They have electric beds, adapted bathrooms, special high backed chairs and kitchen unit/work surfaces are lowered or can be pulled out for ease of access for wheelchair users. We offer 2 accommodations total: 2 two-bedroom accommodations.

Suitable for travellers with restricted walking ability who may need a wheelchair. Some areas within the accommodation and exterior are accessible. Suitable for a person with sufficient mobility to climb a few steps, but who would benefit from fixtures and fittings to aid balance. We offer two accommodations in total: 2 studio accommodations.

Accessible Outings and Excursions

Brockhole on Windermere
This is not a guided excursion but a wonderful day out for all to enjoy.
Free use of wheelchairs for use in the gardens and indoors. Electric bus available to transport people who have difficulties walking from the car park to the visitor centre. While many of the paths and steps in the garden are steep, there is a path taking you to the lake and lower areas of the garden which is suitable for all.
Assistance dogs are welcome.
Induction loops in the shop.
Accessible toilets on the ground floor of visitor centre, and by the Treetop Trek Reception.
Car parking for disabled badge holders next to the visitor centre.
Children's adventure playground has a swing for children with disabilities and a wide slide. A car is required to get to Brockhole. For assistance planning your visit, call 015394 46601.

RSPB Leighton Moss Nature Reserve
This is not a guided excursion but a wonderful day out for all to enjoy. Leighton Moss Nature Reserve boasts the largest reed bed in north-west England and is home to a wide range of spectacular wildlife including otters, bearded tits, marsh harriers, egrets and red deer.
Ground floor entry to the visitor centre, with non-slip tiled flooring. Seats are available on request. The nature trails are flat and undulating with a variety of seating available. There is a flight of stairs up to the café with a handrail, however a stair lift is available.
Large print displays and magnifying glass available at the visitor centre. Large print menu available in the café. Registered Assistance Dogs welcome.
Level access entry, an emergency alarm pull cord in accessible toilets.
Hard surfaced car park with Blue Badge spaces at the Visitor Centre

Proximity/Accessibility to Local Supermarkets/Shops/Etc.
Carnforth, Lancaster and Morecambe towns are all accessible with accessible toilet facilities.

Public Transport

Adapted taxis are available to hire. No access to wheelchair users on some local buses.
